Making Friends......Making A Difference......Being Made Different

Our Programs and Services

Afterschool Program

Open from 3:15 - 5:15 every afternoon during the school year, this program involves about 60 kindergarten through 8th graders in literacy training, character building, enrichment activities, and tutoring. We provide an opportunity for each child to work with a volunteer tutor to complete and understand homework, as well as to work on reading skills - all in a disciplined and loving environment.

Youth Program

The middle and high school students of Preston Taylor Ministries are involved in a youth group in partnership with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.  All youth meet on Wednesday nights for dinner, games, and worship.  High school students also participate in small groups on Sunday nights.  Students in the youth program take part in monthly outings, service projects, and retreats.  The youth program gives students a safe place to hang-out, develop friendships, and connect with a local church while growing in their relationship with God. Mission Statement:  We, the youth ministry of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and Preston Taylor Ministries, come together as one family to serve, love, and teach the youth of our neighborhood in order that they will learn how to live like Jesus Christ and create a safe community that loves and honors God.

Lunchmate Mentoring Program

In cooperation with Cockrill Elementary, W.A. Bass Middle School, and McKissack School, sixty volunteers are matched with sixty of our afterschool program children as lunchmates. A lunchmate volunteer eats lunch once a week with a child in his or her school cafeteria providing a consistent presence and a motivating relationship.

Spring Break in the Marketplace

Designed to expose 5th - 8th graders to a workplace or college environment during spring break, this program matches up students with "marketplace mentors" for a half of a day during the Metro Nashville Schools spring break. Over the course of a week, each student will experience 3 to 5 different career or post high school opportunities.

Summer Enrichment Program

Each summer PTM partners with church youth groups and local churches to offer a program for 30 to 40 children which includes Bible study, music, arts and crafts, recreation, computer training, and academic enrichment.
