Making Friends......Making A Difference......Being Made Different

SPRING BREAK IN THE MARKETPLACE

Edward was a 5th grade student who stayed at trouble at school, at home, and at Preston Taylor Ministries .  He was assigned to spend an afternoon with Francis Guess, Vice-President of the Danner Corporation.  A staff member took Edward to his “appointment” where Edward (in awe) met Mr. Guess in his office.  When Edward was picked up four hours later, he got in the car and pronounced, “I hope I never let that man down.”  Probably for the first time, Edward expressed the sentiments that many take for granted—there is at least one person that I want to be proud of me—and I want to make decisions that please that person.

Springbreak in the Marketplace is a pivotal, perhaps life-changing, week in the life of a junior high student at PTM.  Students have the opportunity to spend a few hours (2-4) with a “marketplace mentor” who exposes the student to a career (or educational) opportunity.  The benefit to PTM students is a better understanding of career opportunities, as well as the possibility of a friendship with a caring adult.  Springbreak in the Marketplace takes place March 16-20.  If you are willing to host a PTM student in your workplace for a morning or afternoon, please contact Chan Sheppard at 596-4386 or cgsheppard@prestontaylorministries.org. Also, you may check out the attached brochure for more information.
